Medicina interna e cirurgia em pequenos animais

Abstract

O presente relatório é relativo ao estágio curricular do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária, realizado no Hospital Veterinário de Santa Marinha, entre os dias cinco de setembro de 2022 e 24 de fevereiro de 2023. Inicialmente, são descritos, resumidamente, a casuística e os procedimentos acompanhados pela estagiária, ao longo dos seis meses de estágio. A segunda parte do relatório consiste na revisão bibliográfica do tema “Abordagem de urgência ao paciente com uroabdómen”, terminando com a descrição de um caso clínico acompanhado durante o estágio. O uroabdómen é uma emergência médica, que obriga a uma estabilização rápida e eficaz do paciente, devido às alterações cardiovasculares, metabólicas e hemodinâmicas que esta condição pode causar. A escolha de um método de tratamento eficaz está dependente de exames complementares, que permitam descobrir a localização exata da laceração no trato urinário. O prognóstico é promissor, caso o animal inicie a estabilização atempadamente; Small Animal Internal Medicine and Surgery Abstract: This report relates to the curricular internship for the Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine, which took place at the Santa Marinha Veterinary Hospital between 5th September 2022 and 24th February 2023. Firstly, the casuistry and procedures followed by the intern over the course of the six-month internship are briefly described. The second part of the report consists of a literature review of the topic "Emergency approach to the patient with uroabdomen", ending with a description of a clinical case monitored during the internship. Uroabdomen is a medical emergency that requires rapid and effective stabilisation of the patient due to the cardiovascular, metabolic and haemodynamic changes that this condition may cause. The choice of an effective treatment method depends on complementary examinations, which make it possible to discover the exact location of the tear in the urinary tract. The prognosis is promising if the animal is stabilised in time.
