Autoestigma e saúde mental: intervenção do enfermeiro especialista

Abstract

O presente relatório, elaborado no âmbito do Mestrado em Enfermagem, descreve o percurso formativo realizado e o desenvolvimento de um projeto de intervenção em enfermagem direcionado à minimização do impacto do autoestigma em pessoas com doença mental, no âmbito da aquisição de competências conducentes ao grau de Mestre e de Enfermeiro Especialista em Enfermagem de Saúde Mental e Psiquiátrica (EESMP). O autoestigma, associado à interiorização de estereótipos sociais negativos e ao défice de literacia em saúde mental, constitui um obstáculo relevante ao processo de recuperação. Assim, a promoção da literacia em saúde mental e a desconstrução de conceções estigmatizantes assumem-se como estratégias fundamentais na sua redução. As intervenções psicoeducativas, psicoterapêuticas e psicossociais desenvolvidas pelo EESMP emergem como fundamentais neste contexto. Durante o ensino clínico, procurou-se consolidar estas intervenções, integrando evidência científica e competências especializadas, através de uma metodologia descritiva e crítico-reflexiva; SELF-STIGMA AND MENTAL HEALTH: INTERVENTION BY THE SPECIALIST NURSE - ABSTRACT: This report, prepared as part of the master’s degree in nursing, describes the training path undertaken and the development of a nursing intervention project aimed at minimizing the impact of self-stigma in people with mental illness, within the scope of acquiring skills leading to the master’s degree and Specialist Nurse in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing (EESMP). Self-stigma, associated with the internalization of negative social stereotypes and a deficit in mental health literacy, constitutes a significant obstacle to the recovery process. Therefore, the promotion of mental health literacy and the deconstruction of stigmatizing conceptions are fundamental strategies in its reduction. The psychoeducational, psychotherapeutic, and psychosocial interventions developed by the EESMP emerge as fundamental in this context. During clinical internships, efforts were made to consolidate these interventions, integrating scientific evidence and specialized skills, through a descriptive and critical-reflective methodology.
